MENTORⅡ是英国CT公司生产，具有当代水平的全数字直流电动机调速驱动器最新系列产品，输出电流范围25A-1850A。全系列产品具有控制，监测，保护和串行通讯的功能。
MENTORⅡ分单象限和四象限两种配置。单象限驱动器仅能实现正向运行，四象限驱动器是完全可逆的。这两种配置的驱动器均能对电机的速度和转矩进行全面控制，四象限驱动器可对正反向运行进行全面控制。
MENTORⅡ运行参数可由面板或通过串行通讯接口进行选择和修改。参数的设定或修改受三级密码系统的保护。
直流电机在实际运用中必须控制的量是速度，输出转矩和转向。速度与电枢反电势成正比，与磁通成反比。转矩与电枢电流和磁通成正比。转向简单地由电枢和励磁电压的相对极性决定。以下为必须控制的量：
1、电枢电压：
反电势是电枢电压的一部分。因而，若假定磁场不变，控制电枢电压能完全控制速度直到电枢的最大电压设计值。电枢电流也是电枢电压的函数。在速度能达到的范围内，转矩也由电压控制。只要磁场是完全激励的，从零速到最大电枢电压（基速）一般能保持最大转矩。
2、励磁电压：
它决定励磁电流，从而决定磁通量。若励磁电压能独立于电枢电压变化，在满功率（满电柩电压）下速度可以超过电枢电压提供的基速点并且电流为最大值。因为转矩直接与磁通成正比，所以当速度由弱磁开始增加时最大转矩减少。
